Comic 90: E3 Presentation

And it's finally time to show off the console at E3! Sadly... it didn't go as well as Microsoft expected. Demo videos wouldn't play on stage, several demos on the floor wouldn't run too well... (In reality, the presenter remembered it as "my worst presentation ever" and when a journalist talked to a Microsoft PR person about what went wrong they talked for 90 minutes about this) Meanwhile, Sony had a lot of great new stuff coming to PS2, taking a lot of attention.
However, he still got some attention with a brand new console, and all hope isn't lost yet...

I just read "GAMECUBE!" in the cheeriest voice out loud and I am frightened

My work here is done

Getting into the industry with a new console is even harder now. Everything is pretty much covered and nobody today will create exclusive for a console that is totally unknown with no guaranteed potential.

True... I could presonally be interested in a cheaper, more "niche" console but I guess most people would just go to/develop for PC for those games...

Sadly, the Gamecube was really underrated for its time. As it turns out, it was a pretty good console with a perfectly good library of games.
Reminds me of a certain other Nintendo console people like to lambast *coughWiiUcough* despite it performing just fine after a bad launch.

by Zanreo at 27th Feb 2016, 12:09 AM

Yeah, exactly... and I did always think the "wii u is doomed" was really blown out of proportion (especially with whoever it was, think is was someone working for EA or Activision or something, claiming it was "not really next gen" just for being weaker than the competitors consoles that launched later, and that caught on)

The fact that people still play Melee on the original hardware after 15 years says almost as much about the hardware as it does about the community.

Remember how all of the fourth generation kids were all getting the Xbox? Me neither

It's a little disturbing how perfectly this scene was recreated with the most recent generation of consoles; Xbox making a fool of itself, Sony being egotistical having already decided himself the winner, and Nintendo almost an afterthought despite being just as enthusiastic and far more straightforward.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, I suppose...

Hmm, yeah... You got a point
