Comic 35: Namco Yakuza Funtimes - 1

So, the following strips are based on a True Story I read in a game history book. (Timeline-wise, this happened in the mid-70s, shortly after Atari made Breakout)
When Namco, who at the time were the distributors and publishers for Atari games in Japan, first bought Break-Out from Atari, they noticed a bunch of bootleg machines popping up. After some research, they found out these fake machines were made by a Yakuza clan.

What will happen next, and what is Namco going to do about this? Stay tuned...

Oh, wow... I didn't even know about this one. Excellent!

Thanks! I learn about a lot of interesting stories from game history books

Hey, they're just local businessmen bringing the people what they want.

Man, I don't know why I didn't subscribe earlier... I can't think of any other comics on the CF that even know who the Yakuza are.

Oh, and my statement above still stands.

Thanks for subscribing! Yeah, I also did some Yakuza research when making this comic, even though I knew the basics - some fascinating stuff there!

And yeah, if Namco's not gonna give the fans what they want, someone else has to do it...

Makes you wonder if they're the ones in some cases taking switches, NES classics, SNES classics, and amiibos from their warehouses and giving them such a high markup. It is in their MO.

Yakuza scalpers you say?
