Comic 136: Switch Cartridges

The Switch cartridges are covered in a terribly bitter coating to prevent small kids from putting it in their mouth... of course, this went about just as well as expected.

(EA and Ubisoft used because I wanted to try using actual characters instead of the generic faceless blue chibis I usually use... Ubisoft is in it for the memes)

It's like the Ice Bucket Challenge except there's no charity to justify looking like such a jackass.

As we all know, if you make something taste terrible people will just have to try it for themselves...

by MadJak91 at 27th Mar 2017, 11:52 PM

At first I thought it is some kind of limited edition joke or something. Like that stinky Nintendo Power promoting EarthBound back then (from what I have heard anyway) but nope :D
Curious... They say that but is there an actual reason other than secret stunt (which you noted)? Because I have not heard about kids swallowing cartridges and they are small since GameBoy Advance haha :D

by Zanreo at 28th Mar 2017, 12:10 AM

Well, that's their reasoning but you almost have to wonder...

The internet: why no one can have nice things...

Nintendo has the kids covered from sticking games in their mouths, everyone else though...

by melaredblu at 28th Mar 2017, 7:37 AM

This still mystifies me. Like, sure, okay, two-year-olds who don't know any better might put a game cart in their mouth and having a bad taste will teach them not to do it again. That's good foresight. But the only people who've actually done it are grown freaking adults who know they taste bad and know that game carts don't go in your mouth anyway. What's their excuse?

by Gamechamp at 28th Mar 2017, 9:03 AM

The only people you've HEARD ABOUT doing it are adults. The kids generally don't talk about it. They may not even be physically capable of talking about it yet.

by melaredblu at 28th Mar 2017, 8:32 PM

Fair enough. But the Switch was barely out for, like, a day before I was hearing about this. So the adults sure didn't waste any time taste-testing a $50+ game cart. Geez, at least the Cinnamon Challenge involved something that's generally understood to be food.

by Zanreo at 28th Mar 2017, 9:46 PM

Most likely just trying to find out "now how bad can this REALLY tast- oh holy crap that's terrible"

Hey, it looks like the shading is a bit more detailed in this one. Nice job!

Thanks! Been trying to improve x3

You mentioned "Ubisoft is in it for the memes" but considering my question for Sega... I feel like that would be a better fit.

by Zanreo at 14th May 2017, 9:48 PM

(didnt see reply before now, sorry!)

Yeah, Sega too, both of them (plus several other characters) are memelords

by Ajax at 16th Sep 2017, 7:16 PM

When you say something is the foulest taste or worst tasting thing, there will inevitably be people who want to test that notion.

by Zanreo at 16th Sep 2017, 7:28 PM

Indeed, must be why everyone had to try it
