Comic 119: Switching Up

(Updated version! With news sites... wanted to draw them again)
The Switch is revealed, and people are hyped! Of course, we want to know more...

Also, during the next week I probably won't get much time to actually work on the comic... which is why I'll post guest strips instead! (If you want to draw some guest art, please check out this thread for more details!)

Hopefully in all that extra time they do things like make sure it has a decent battery life and more than a handful of games. At the very least bring over the Virtual Console library of the Wii U

by Zanreo at 30th Oct 2016, 2:08 AM

Well, a reason they pushed it back was making sure it had a decent launch lineup, so... I have good hopes. Plus, third-parties seem happy, hopefully they stay that way

B-But playing Skyrim!! :O

I am kind of not sure about the slow reveal and hiding things for later announcements. Hm.
So no backwards compatibility and a so far shown library of games that is pretty polarizing it seems.
Not sure what to think so far. They are definitely not going to compete. It is like its own thing with... confused future? We will see.

by Zanreo at 30th Oct 2016, 2:25 AM

That too :D
Eh, I'd like to know more too but at least it's not waiting the day before of AFTER the launch until revealing more... Though they really should have revealed more right away

Backwards compatibility would be nice, but Wii U would be hard since it doesn't use disks... 3DS/DS seems like it should be possible, but I heard the cards are just slightly differently shaped? And the games shown so far are of course just a small taste of what to come, more titles will be revealed later :D Maybe I'm just a fangirl, but I'm optimistic about this :D Gonna take a lot to cool down my hype!

Not competing... is not a worry for me. Honestly, it's almost better not to have a third spec-heavy console on the market, competing in specs and not having much different (aside from exclusives) going for them... and letting them do their own thing, like they seem to be best at right now. Either way they said they learned from the flaws of the Wii U, and... from what we've seen it seems like they have.

by MadJak91 at 30th Oct 2016, 5:16 PM

Yep. I do not think it is bad but I am just slightly confused at the way they are releasing info. Sounds like they might be a bit afraid or not sure about themselves.
Wii U is a controversial topic and you find as many people saying it failed as those saying it was great. Harder to judge like this, haha.

Huh. I thought 3/DS stuff is not compatible but maybe it is going to be. Hm.

by Zanreo at 30th Oct 2016, 10:25 PM

I guess they don't wanna reveal everything at once... or something?

As for Wii U, I still think it's a good console with a bunch of quality games even if it might have been a commercial flop and failed saleswise. Selling bad doesn't always mean something IS bad

I'm sure Nintendo will have more to say about it at the next E3. I'm a little concerned about all those detachable parts, though. Inordinate wear and tear could be an issue for players who switch controller formats frequently.

by Zanreo at 1st Nov 2016, 1:10 AM

Well, it will be out before next E3 so we will know by then... though we'll get to know more at the presentation in January. and I trust Nintendo to make a durable console like usual, even after switching parts a lot, but we'll just have to wait and see

Can we expect a certain group of Laughing Joking Numbnuts to make an appearance later on?

by Zanreo at 1st Nov 2016, 9:36 PM

Hmmm, which ones do you mean?

by Smilocide at 3rd Nov 2016, 6:08 AM

Nintendo, I just want Smash Bros. 5!

by Zanreo at 5th Nov 2016, 12:13 AM

Me too... With someone from rhythm heaven

by junoro at 3rd Nov 2016, 7:43 PM
